Learning and Skills Improvement Service
The Learning and Skills Improvement Service is the sector owned body that aims to accelerate the drive for excellence in the learning and skills sector, building the sector’s own capacity to design, commission and deliver improvement and strategic change.
LSIS are supporting this conference.
The Hogrefe Group
The Hogrefe Group has been publishing scientifically developed, objective
psychometric tools for 60 years. In the business testing market we continually
strive to provide psychometric assessment techniques that address the
current concerns of industry.
As workplaces and customers have become more diverse, as national boundaries
have become less of a barrier to the movement of people, and as the legislative
framework defending personal diversity and liberty has strengthened, successful
team working depends on a higher level of interpersonal effectiveness
than ever before. We all need to understand and accept how and why we
all behave as we do as a result of our cultural upbringing, experiences
or other differences. Our psychometric tests provide objective and powerful
starting points to the raising of this awareness.
The Implicitly Test Series is designed to uncover unconscious
biases and their likely impact on behaviour. The current series of tests
measure bias in relation to age, gender, disability sexual orientation
and ethnic origin. The Implicitly Series can be valuable for individual
and team development contexts as well as organisational audits and intervention
programmes.
The NEO PI-R measures preferred ways of behaving, emotional
pattern, thinking style and conscious attitudes. Together these aspects
of functioning deepen insight into how the person understands the world
and operates in it and their style of engagement in social groups and
situations with varying degrees diversity and unfamiliarity.
The Leadership Judgement Indicator (LJI) assesses how
effectively managers take account of the nature of the task and the characteristics
of the people involved in order to judge the most appropriate way to work
in order to optimise results and maintain a motivated, engaged team.
The Coach on the Desktop (CotD) is designed to develop
effective judgement and style flexibility in team leaders and can be used
as part of a broader coaching process for inclusive leadership. It allows
managers to practice with and learn from situational leadership theory.
Decisions about how to manage people appropriately become aligned to theory
and the manager becomes adept at applying the theory to real life.

The Equality and Human rights Commission
The Equality and Human Rights Commission works with organisations in
the public, private and voluntary sectors to reduce discrimination and
promote equal opportunities for all employees, customers and the users
of services.
The Commission provides help and advice on equal opportunities policy
and practice to many organisations and companies, large and small; and
liaises with government departments and representative organisations from
all sectors.
Almost all public authorities in England, Wales and Scotland are bound
by statutory duties to promote race and sex equality and eliminate discrimination.
These duties take good practice a step further, providing a legal obligation
to comply. The Commission provides information about these duties and
guidance on the best ways to meet these requirements.
The Commission works to define, promote and publish best practice, in
order to create a more fair and equitable society. We have guides on best
practice to download, as well as statutory codes of practice.
AKD Training
AKD Training has over 10 years experience of developing and delivering
training solutions. We began by developing solutions for complaints training.
There was a great response to this and our reputation quickly grew, with
more and more requests for other types of training.
We have worked with over 75 Government Agencies, NHS Trusts, Local Authorities
and Private Sector Organisations. This means we can pass on that experience
to you, because many of them have faced similar issues. It also means
you can be assured that our techniques and strategies have been tested,
refined and proven.
Government Equalities Office
GEO has responsibility within Government for equality strategy and legislation
and takes the lead on issues relating to women, sexual orientation and
transgender equality matters.
The Government's Equality Strategy sets out our vision for a strong, modern
and fair Britain. It is built on two principles of equality – equal treatment
and equal opportunity. This means building a society where no one is held
back because of who they are, or where they come from.
